About Steven W. Simon
An American Author
Steven W. Simon is an American author of fiction and poetry. He started writing poetry in his teenage years, it was 87% crap. After barely graduating from Birmingham Groves High School in Michigan (being decent at wrestling helped), he took some time to explore the world of a shitty apartment and minimum wage jobs.
One day his roommate walked into the tiny apartment kitchen. He said, “I’m going to rehab, you need to find a new roommate,” and walked out. Inspired by this act of maturity, or, more likely, an act of regret and embarrassment for what he had done the night previous, Steven went back to school to study film.
After graduating from Grand Valley State University, he moved to Chicago to pursue a career in film. This did not go well, financially. However, he earned an IMBD credit for playing “Joan’s Boyfriend #2” in the B-horror film “Stump the Band.”
“To Los Angeles!” he proclaimed. “That’s a terrible idea,” his girlfriend quickly responded. And so he went, and everything went horribly wrong. Draped in a dark depression the likes of which he had never felt, Steven drove back to Chicago.
Steven dug himself out of the deep hole, found himself a corporate video gig, and met his wonderful wife. The company he worked for was acquired, but they kept him on for a few years before laying him off.
“I’m going to start my own company!” he proclaimed. “I support you,” his wife said. It did not go well.
In 2019 Steven remembered that he is, in fact, a writer. First, he adapted a screenplay he had written into Red as Apple. Then, he kept writing.
Today, Steven lives near Chicago with his wife and two children. He inexplicably has a Master’s Degree and is not dead.
